Rotary Club of Front Royal Recognizes Stuart Anderson Ashley as Male Student-Athlete of the Year and Macie Jordan Clerkley As Female Student-Athlete of the Year

Front Royal – The Rotary Club of Front Royal is proud to present the sixth class of honorees for its Student-Athlete of the Year Awards.  Stuart Anderson Ashley was awarded the 2018 John K. Marlow Student-Athlete Award, and Macie Jordan Clerkley was awarded the 2018 Heidi Noel Moore Student-Athlete Award.

In 2013, the Rotary Club of Front Royal created the Student-Athlete of the Year Award.  The award and its criteria were adopted by the Board of Directors of the Club to recognize the top individual male athlete and female athlete from Warren County High School and Skyline High School.

Rotary Club of Front Royal Honors 2018 Warren County Teachers of the Year

Front Royal – At the May 18th meeting of the Rotary Club of Front Royal, ten Warren County teachers were awarded “The Rotarian Award for Excellence in Educating Youth”. The awards were presented by Melody Sheppard, Chairman of the Club’s Career Information and Educational Excellence Committee, and Greg Drescher, Superintendent of Warren County Public Schools. Criteria for selection of the teachers included setting high expectations for student achievement and supporting students in positive and esteem-building ways. Rotary Club of Front Royal and the Warren County Department of Social Services Provide 134 Coats to Needy Children in the Community During the Holiday Season

 The Rotary Club of Front Royal and the Warren County Department of Social Services provided 134 coats for kids through Operation Warm.  The coats were distributed as part of the Rotary Club’s annual Doc Smith Christmas Basket Program, which provided 145 boxes of food to needy families in the Front Royal-Warren County Community and to children identified by the Department of Social Services.

The Rotary Club of Front Royal delivered 145 boxes of food to needy families through its Doc Smith Christmas Basket Program. On Friday, December 22nd volunteers from the Rotary Club helped pack up donated food items into gift boxes that were either picked up or delivered on Saturday, December 23rd.

Rotary Club of Front Royal to Partner with the Warren County Department of Social Services to Provide Coats to Needy Children in the Community

Front Royal – The Rotary Club of Front Royal announced this week that it is partnering with the Warren County Department of Social Services to purchase up to 150 coats for kids through Operation Warm.  As part of the Club’s annual Doc Smith Christmas Basket Program, which last year provided 120 boxes of food to needy families in the Front Royal-Warren County Community, the Club will also be providing coats to children in need identified by the Department of Social Services.  

According to Club President Rick Novak, “The goal of the Doc Smith Christmas Basket Program is to provide basic food staples to families in need in the community to make sure that they can have a traditional Christmas dinner.  This year I am happy to report that we are adding coats to the donation to ensure that every child served by the program will have a new coat this Christmas.”  The Doc Smith

Rotary Club of Front Royal Distributes 425 Dictionaries to Local 3rd Grade Students

The Rotary Club of Front Royal is proud to announce that they have distributed a total of 425 Webster’s Student Dictionaries to 3rd grade students in Warren County this year. The Rotary Dictionary Project delivered to the following schools: AS Rhodes, Dynamic Life Christian, E Wilson Morrison, Front Royal Christian, Hilda J Barbour, Leslie Fox Keyser, Mountain Laurel Montessori and Ressie Jeffries.

Rotary Club of Front Royal Holds “Half-Lit Classic” Golf Tournament

The Rotary Club of Front Royal held its 6th Annual Half-Lit Classic Golf Tournament at Bowling Green South Golf Course.  According to Tournament Director and Rotary Club President Rick Novak, the tournament was a huge success with 23 teams and 92 golfers participating.

The tournament was used by the Club as a “Pints for Polio” fundraiser with $25 from each golfer being applied to the Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus campaign drive that is being matched 2×1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  In addition to the $2,300 raised, the Club also received over $400 in additional donations.  Golfers received a pint glass and sampled Virginia Craft Beers.

Rotary Club of Front Royal Contributes $80,267 In FY2016-2017

Ninth Robert E. “Bob” Miller Community Service Award

The Front Royal Rotary Club presented the 9th Annual Robert E. “Bob” Miller Community Service Award at its meeting on August 24, 2017 to James M. “Jim” Eastham.  Jim has been a life-long resident of Front Royal, Virginia and has been an active public servant in the community.

Front Royal Rotary Club Honors Warren County Teachers
